Where are you this month? Sun burned and ready for shade or living it up?
Where am I these days?
I’m a planner. I love to plan. Planning is my favorite. What I share here, I’ve often thought about for days, months even. It’s something that’s been on my heart and articulated over time.
Today is not that day. These days, I’m flying by the seat of my pants. Or rather, there is no flying. There’s barely pants. My butt is beginning to morph into my dining room chair where I have spent hours squinting at the computer screen memorizing the structure of a cell and the chemistry of biomacromolecules.
You see, I’m all fired up about freedom from food obsession, freedom from living a life victim to hormones, freedom from anxiety and fear. So I’m going to grad school to take my education and passion up a notch.
But I’m frazzled. A little worn out. A lot consumed by my To Do List that never seems to get checked off in one day. It’s like my soul feels a little sun burned.
I had a beautiful opportunity to talk to my sweet sister about it and while I was lamenting, I remembered my own words. Summer is the time for expansion. It’s a season of disconnection. It’s productivity and long days.
I’m living this season. To its fullest.
And the beauty of living in sync with the seasons and my cycle, is that I know this season will not last. It won’t because I won’t let it. Because I have learned to adapt and adjust and honor my nature as a woman.
So this month of August, let’s embody abundance. This full and delightful life we have the privilege of living. That sometimes feels overwhelming and exhausting but is also saturated in dreams and hope and the fire of passion.
